Super Simple Server Starter Guide - Aerotactics - 21.07.2013

So you want to start your own server? It's as easy as pie, just follow this guide!

Step 1:

Download the server HERE!

When it's finished, extract the files to a new folder.

Step 2:

Search your computer for CMD, and run it.

Type 'ipconfig' without quotes and look for the line "IPV4 address...192.168.1.X".

X is the number you want, remember it.

Step 3:

Open an internet browser, and type "192.168.1.1" without quotes.

There will be a login: for username type "admin", for password type "password".

In the left column scroll down to "port forwarding/triggering".

Add new service (fill in yourself, but remember that X number, and put both ports as 7777).

Save.

Step 4:

Open your server folder and run SAMP-server.

Your friends can join your server with your ip address and port, like [your IP address]:7777

Step 5:

Some people aren't smart enough to check the wiki page. 98% of the people I talk to in "scripting help" could solve their problems with wikis, but they can't figure that out lol

Because they're too lazy to read and would rather someone give them the answers. That's the problem with letting 12 year olds download and run SA:MP servers.

Indeed, in hindsight, I should have made 10 random steps that had nothing to do with servers and see who would actually follow it XD

The tutorial is pretty bad, actually.
You call it a super simple guide, but the steps are, mildly put, weird.
You either state the over-obvious things (downloading it from sa-mp.com) and completely ignore some of the more 'difficult' steps, such as setting up the config file.

Furthermore, your port-forwarding guide is quite useless, as not every router's software looks and works the same.

I see what you mean, but this was intended because of lazy people, and was kept as simple as possible.

True, however this is the most general port-forwarding route.
