Open it in a PHP editor, like Bluefish for example.

Notepad works fine too.

If you are using windows, you may use notepad++, since it is one of the best IDE'S i ever saw for windows.
If you're using linux, use geany, another great IDE i've saw for linux.

Use notepad ++ to open and edit it.

I personally like Sublime Text. NotePad++ is a good alternative.
