Building a skateboard - Coltmaster - 07.05.2013

I'm thinking of building a skateboard soon, I don't really want to spend any more than Ј200 but I want something decent, at least semi-professional quality. Is anyone well educated on what brands are good, how much you should spend, etc. I don't have enough to buy some world class one that tony hawk would use, but something that is pretty decent.

Then again I might build a BMX instead, so I'd like advise on that too.

So i'm guessing it's a trick deck, not a long board?

For a decent BMX in the US it's around $400-600 US dollars.

I have a WeThePeople BMX and it costed $600, rides fast, light weight, and stylish.

Something cheap from retail stores like Walmart is around $60 - $200 US dollars.

Walmart bikes kinda suck though

Note I said "Something cheap", cheap stuff are usually crap.

Nah, go for Custom or something. There are pretty good BMX stores that sell some decent bikes for under $700 easily.

As for skateboards, try one of those big American sponsor brands such as birdhouse, Warehouse or whatever. I'd choose by the design underneath though, not brand. Also get a good wood deck. As for wheels, trucks; just get a nice variation of colours.

My WeThePeople BMX is custom.

Nice.

I had a specialized, which I changed using other bike parts from other brands that I accrued over the years. I'd recommend any online store that lets you pick out parts etc. I'd probably avoid Specialized because I don't think they do decent looking BMX anymore.

Yeah not paying for something over $500 unless it's the exact way I want it.
