Or use a sign like object, and apply SetObjectMaterialText. (I don't know if I got your question correctly..), you can also use both.

I see that I got right what your question was. I'm not going to write the code for you, but check out SetObjectMaterialText, also search for a object that looks like a sign, apply the SetObjectMaterialText to that object.
