Methods For Detecting Mods... -
BlackAtom - 22.12.2012
Hi men! There is a way to detect game files on client side? If yes, it must be made in C++, Visual Basic or by a plugin, etc...
Believe
: servers will be able to ban players that have the fucking "s o b e i t"! If, on client side, there is any file called or that includes the word "mod_sa", return 1, else return 0.
(Is better a plugin that finds any file on the GTA:SA directory on client side...)
(I saw an Incognito's plugin that retrieve the User's Hostname, so SA:MP servers can retrieve other specific (also environment) variable's values...)
So, this is possible?

sa-mp community are too afraid to discuss about it and do not even try to think how to protect servers from these things. This thread will be deleted just because of mod_sa name.

With that way, you can protect your server but you're going to loose players.
Personally, I wouldn't continue after seeing the message that I have to install a plugin in order to play to that server and believe or not, I am not sure what this file'd do.
I've read a thread from ****** about this also, but I can't find it at the moment. It was about "Do NOT Download DLL Files" or something.

Agree. I don't like to fuck my pc for just downloading a plugin to play. I mean, who knows what the plugin file has inside? You can't read source code, nothing. I wouldn't trust a server who ask me to download something to play, i'd better change server.

Which is exactly why an easy way of checking client integrity would be important to have in vanilla sa-mp.

yet you play sa-mp? reputable author(s) with good mod vs the urge to play + no gameplay time. The obvious wins.

True, i can't trust third-party plugins which can cause harm to my laptop, since i got it formatted for the 4th time ( lol ) due to some Trojans by downloading some files, and i would't want to risk it. Also, for example, a player's playing 2 servers, 1 RP, and 1 Free roam ( different servers ). So, the RP owner asks every player to use this plugin and get this into their GTA:SA folder, in which it checks if you use any cheats. The plugin will be also used for the Free roam server, which can probably affect the server-side and client-side, unless you have 2 GTA:SA folders with different SA:MP ones ( Which i think is not quite possible )
