Bit dubious about this myself. As it involves downloading an executable and running it to 'get the game' But there are a lot of relatively reputable news/gaming sites out there talking about it. So I guess it is legit

It doesnt give you a key now. It asks you to download a small program and run it
Correction, it seems the executable is an alternative way to get it. Perhaps for those that do not have or want steam?

I got it without downloading anything I just clicked "Redeem", took me to another app and gave me the key. Worked great!
