GTA SA and DirectX -

Hello guys!
I just have a few questions about Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. When I installing it, it asks if I want DirectX, what does that? Anything different?
I also wondering if it is possible to run GTA SA without CD. I have purchased GTA SA and installed it, but I hate using the CD. Any way to do so I not need CD, give me tutorial.
Thank you.

1) SAMP doesnt support modified/cracked versions, also it doesnt support the steam version. thats the official part...
i wont give you any advice how or why 1) is the case, but i may tell you that iam not using my GTASA-DVD for >4 years when playing.
you might have read about the "ENB series" mod for GTA, its using a modified directx library, installing the directx drivers each time is not the problem, many shitty programmed gameinstallers want to install that (old dx-crap) into the own program directory - just let the installer proceed. making a backup of already existing files is always a good idea, incase the new installation fucks up your game.
long story short:
dx does the graphics.
if you use a mod like enb or rikintosh's, you might to edit some .txt files in order to use a different directx dll.
little hint: as soon you find a way to get SAMP to work with the steam version, you got the solution - its about 14MB in size ^^

Wrong, although it's illegal and nothing which we should talk about on this forum.
