3ds max help - SilencedPistol - 26.11.2012

Im a student in high school. Im not on any special courses or anything, I just wanna make GTA SA skins. Am I eligable for a free version of 3ds max?

Re: 3ds max help - Scenario - 26.11.2012

Wrong place pal. However, you don't deserve some free version of a program just because your a high-school student wanting to do something.

You can either download a trial or purchase a full-version from here: http://usa.autodesk.com/3ds-max/

Re: 3ds max help - RXservers - 26.11.2012

Yes, you can download free version of Autodesk 3DS Max.

Re: 3ds max help - Duck - 26.11.2012

If you want the full version, buy it. High school student or not, everyone still has to pay for what they want.
But it's not worth buying it if you don't even know how to make skins. I could go into subdivisional surfaces, quad, NURMS, UVW mapping but if you don't even know what those terms mean, it's not worth to buy it. Play around with GMax for a while, then move on to the trial version and eventually buy the full version.

Right, like any private individual will buy a $3000 software just for the sake of modding an eight year old game.

Some (or most) schools have an agreement with software companies like Microsoft and Adobe which allows students and teachers to download products legally, free of charge (or for a very low price). But you'd need to be in a very dedicated school for it to have an agreement with AutoDesk.

On their website it offers free software to students.

Check it out and get back to me with a proper answer please guys.

The company I work for couldn't get an agreement with Autodesk even though we are huge in terms of game development.

@OP: You'd be better off with Blender, Sculptris, Zmodeler (though not as powerful) and Gmax if this is one of your long-term projects/hobbies.

Again, it's free for them.

You have had tons of real answers here. They obviously don't mean highschool when they're talking about students, they mean a dedicated education that need their software (probably college in the US).
