I don't care if it's latest and fastest.
I just need a simple windows which can handle all it's job like scripting.

Windows XP is simple and ok for me. I don't like Windows 8.

Been using the final version for a week (yes, my school provided it earlier ) and after I got used to it, it felt just way better than Win 7 so I am absolutely not going to switch back. It also boots at least thrice faster than 7. Don't be afraid of the metro look, it's not bad at all!

Windows 7 is more than enough if you've got the 64-bit version that is. I don't like new releases from Microsoft, I can imagine how many bugs and updates there will be and the difference between 7 and 8 isn't huge... So in my opinion it's not worth to change. However, I look forward for Microsofts release of Windows 9, based on the previous history Microsoft used to release a good OS, then a bad one and so on.

I will try it on my laptop but for gaming I prefer Win7.
