Firewall ? Anti-Virus ?
ask from your hoster to put a firewall on.

im not really sure if you can stop a DDoS attack but the least you can do ip ban range his IP. or use a firewall.

Easy. Unplug your server.
It'll now be hack proof, DDoS proof, and pretty much everything proof.

With game-servers it's difficult to stop DDoS attacks; you might be able to fiddle around with iptables to limit the amount of traffic it's pulling out, to an extent, however, if you're getting 1gbit down your 100mbit pipe, whichever way you look at it, you're screwed.

EDIT: See DDoS Deflate.

Awknet do DDoS filtering on the cheap, might be worth checking them out.
