Pepsi + Keyboard - Max_Coldheart - 29.07.2012

Well, I spilled some pepsi on my Keyboard, and now it's acting weird. All keys don't work, it lags sometimes, and some of the keys the pepsi didn't even touch don't work. Any ideas / reasons / hope / opinions?

Sorry for grammar, iPod.

Oh and the keyboard is attached to my laptop, I forgot to mention.

P.S: is there any chance it starts working by wating? If it's wet inside?

I'd just let it sit to dry overnight, for starters. Though it's possible that the coke can corrode some of the contacts. Not sure how that works out. My keyboard has an extra protective layer of rubber underneath the keys.

Shove it in the dryer.

The oven will do

Re: Pepsi + Keyboard - linuxthefish - 29.07.2012

Put in the oven on low, it will dry out quicker. Also turn your laptop off next time and wait for it to dry out for at least 5 days.

Though the oven on the lowest setting or a hairdryer held close will soon dry it out.

I think you should just buy a new keyboard and plug it in via USB. I used to use a laptop with an external mouse and keyboard, nothing wrong with it - it just looked strange.

Either way your keyboard is faulty, it will have horrible, sticky keys and most likely it's ruined already. Laptop keyboards are horrible anyway so your best option would be to buy a usb keyboard, or even a wireless one.
