They all have strengths and weaknesses. What i'd recommend is reading up on all the forums and their features and decide for yourself which one has the features you want/need.

If you have money go for IPB. If you don't have money go for phpBB.

I would still go for phpBB tho.

phpBB is the best and it's free.Also you can heavly edit it with tons of free mods.

phpBB's control panel is so hard to use.

I'd go for SMF.

Oh lol, I must be thinking about another forum then.

But the hard part is creating the forums. There's no categories (at least, that's what it says :P)
