LinkedIn passwords leaked online! - donB - 07.06.2012

Hi,

Well, for those of us who use LinkedIn (a well known professional social networking website) there's a bad news. I don't know how many of us already are aware of this, but I thought I should share it here.

Around 6.5 million LinkedIn account passwords (unsalted SHA-1 hashes) were allegedly leaked, and many of those have already been cracked.

It's only been the Norway region of accounts at the moment of time, but the hackers could have all the passwords.
The passwords are uncrackable if you have a strong password, but if you have your password to "password" then it's already been cracked. The main list has "****" replacing the first four characters and that indicates the passwords that were cracked.

eHarmony and Last.fm too, except the password details for them haven't been leaked [yet], but they have been breached.

Seriously? I wonder who's going to take the credit for this, it was only a few weeks ago that WHMCS was hacked by UgNazi.
