GTA ignoring my mouse - Mauzen - 24.05.2012

I got that problem for a while now, if I knew when exactly it started I would probably also know how to fix it.

GTA SA (not just samp) seems to ignore my mouse from time to time. Means, if I open the menu (press esc) I can move the mouse, but clicking anywhere has no effect. After leaving the menu, the mouse is also ignored ingame, I cant shoot, and I cant look around with the mouse, only keys are working. The effect seems to be random, after entering and leaving the menu several times the mouse is working again. Alt+tabbing also seems to help sometimes, but theres no specific action that fixes it.
Without doing anything, the mouse ingame or in the menu wont fix itself, spamming alt+tab or esc are the only ways I discovered so far.

This can be extremely annoying. Anyone else knows that problem, or anyone got an idea whats the cause?
First I thought its a multiscreen issue, but the problem still exists when turning all other displays off.

Edit: might be interesting that im using windows 7 64 bit, an usb logitech mouse, and a nvidia graphics card with up to date drivers.

Re: GTA ignoring my mouse - Mandrakke - 24.05.2012

just type esc several times and the mouse will back to work, it happens every time with me.

Re: GTA ignoring my mouse - Lil Dre - 24.05.2012

When i press ESC again, my GTA crash...

Re: GTA ignoring my mouse - saiberfun - 24.05.2012

Just open up the task manager and set the cores used by the process to only the first one(sometimes it also works with 2).

GTA SA often ignores the mouse when you have multiple cores enabled on the process.

This has been around for a while now, there's not much you can do in terms of solving it but like @Mandrakke said, there's solutions for countering it.

I suppose you have Windows 7 and a USB mouse?
It's a pretty common problem, and there is no way to fix this yet. Some people help themselves by hitting ESC multiple times (but doesn't always work). ALT-TABbing and then getting back in the game also helps.
Try to plug in a USB-to-PS2 adapter between your mouse and the PC, maybe this will prevent this problem in the future (it helped some people).

If none of the above solutions help you, there is no way to fix it, sadly.

Thanks for the answers, I tested the core limiting thing and this really seems to fix it.
This makes gta a lot more comfortable again.
