What would YOU like to see in a RP server. - Pri3st - 18.04.2012

Hi, so this thread is self-explanatory for the most part. I'll be starting up a serious RP server for the most part, and I need relevant features on what I should add. This dosen't have to only apply to me, but a general topic of things you'd like to see in RP servers. So, just post it with a bit of information, and I'll update it on the list below. At a later time, after ideas are added to the log, I will explain more about the specific detail in another section under the logs. I'm limited in time currently, but there will be explanations. Thanks!

Admins can add faction cars,HQ's,Faction Skins and can create a Faction,Unique VIP System and some other terrorist faction like Al Queda..

A Prison RP, with some rules that match, and not like LSRP
Drug/gun runs.

I don't want a script that only apply's to me. It's a simple concept really, I'm generally not a close-minded person and I don't want to be one, I like to get insight before I partake in something. The servers not going to be up tomorrow, but I'm not giving up on it either.

Actually, Script the server in small town like Angel Pine, Dillimore or something like that.. Because there'll be low player base so players can meet each other easily and create good roleplay. According to me, Roleplay should be script.. You should make forums with good layout and use it for everything like applications and other things to communicate. Admins should be friendly.. Handpick the admin by giving them helper position and give him time before /makeadmin.. I can really help you with some ideas of strict roleplay.. PM me your skype and we can discuss there, IF you wish.

Hmm. Ruling out the small town, as we should grow eventually. I will be using phpBB as my forums, and I think they have the ability and sense to be organized. We will use it for IC communication, apps, etc. Admins will be friendly, and will have strict regulations to follow. Not saying they can't use there judgement, but I won't be having a imbusule, 2 sided person as an admin. There will be a like ''helper'' position, but with a different names and permissions. I posted on your wall.

@Prumpuz We will have multiple gas stations scripted in, each station having unique prices, going up one day, down the next. Exploadable Pumps is the catchy one, as we don't want noobs running into it. If we were to have one, it'd be a gas-station away form the GP, or a gas station not often used.

@Weedar That's on you, there's a lot but very few are actually worth your time, a lot of them are DM servers, or RPG's as they call them. This is a serious, and we already have a scripter. You might have a different answer, but for the present time; how many serious RP servers are there that are actually good? I can name 2, maybe 3 and those have catches.

To be fair, you have a point. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't all the same re-hashed junk.

Also, thanks for your site. It's been very helpful to my scripting.

Do you know what I want to see in a roleplay server? Roleplay. Actual, proper roleplay and encouragement for it to happen. Promote interaction with other players and stop with having everything done automatically through an excess of commands. What exactly is RP, or fun, about going to a checkpoint and typing /buydrugs, then going to another checkpoint and typing /selldrugs, and getting $2,000 in your pocket?

@Ainseri I agree. There is no fun going to a checkpoint every hour to get your money. We will promote RP through jobs, I haven't thought it threw yet as I'm not actively inputting stuff into the script, soon though. I also had a sense in your notes that you were talking about the diversity about a server maybe? ex; everyone is doing there own thing, isolating themselfs. I will not be holding a lot of /o's ''EVERYONE PM FOR A DM EVENT'', but I will prep my staff to promote interaction between each other, a general or popular meeting space IG, jobs that bring people together. Thanks for your input!

Yeah, I meant that players seem to do more interacting with NPCs and checkpoints than they do with other players.

Yeah it's true. The obvious is that there will be commands, and there's going to be a decent amount as there's going to be a lot to do in the city. I don't know how many jobs there will be when your going to a checkpoint or whatever though, but I think that in order to have a successful job feature, there might be a job or two similar to going to a checkpoint, although there will be social interaction integrated.

I would like to see a real item system.I mean, cops use tazers and cuffs, right?IRL not only cops have some, they buy it or get it delivered.In that way citizens can get cuffs or tazers like them in some illegal job way.I mean, a cop might not have cuffs, they have to get it some way...Same for citizens..Hope you understand me.

I do a bit. You mean like illegal guys do a job to give the cops there equipment? This isn't going to work. IRL, it's delivered through legal companys, who are employed or associate with the government. Maybe if what your saying is that someone can get payed to deliver stuff to cops, but then again. You can't have a cop /duty, and it tells them that were all out of guns.

Probably. The thing about this is that it's an updated thread, new ideas etc. It's for a strictly serious RP server based in LV, which isn't all to common. Some of those threads may be old and such.
