No car engine sounds - Potassium - 31.03.2012

Hey,

I'm having an issue with my game sounds. No idea how long I've had the issue - I upgraded my computer about two weeks ago and I can't remember if the issue started immediately after that, or if it was fine for a while after the upgrade.

Either way, I no longer have engine or horn sounds in my game. The engine can be heard for one or two seconds when entering a vehicle, but then it fades out and doesn't come back. I still have other sounds such as vehicle brakes and opening car doors, just not my engine or horn, and my gun shot sounds are a LOT louder than the other sounds.

I have tried reinstalling both SA-MP and GTA but nothing changed.

No, I don't have any mods at all.

I have edited my original post as the issue is slightly different to what I originally described.

I only installed them two weeks ago but I guess it can't hurt to try.

EDIT: I just tried playing SA-MP with headphones and the sound was absolutely fine. I also tried plugging my amp (from my surround-sound system) into the front audio port instead of the rear and it was fine. The surround-sound system was only set up a few days ago so it must be something to do with that. Will post results when found, just in case it can help anyone in the future.

RESULT: I changed my sound settings from "5.1 surround" back to "Stereo" and the engine sound problem seems to be fixed. Gun sounds are still slightly louder but I can live with that. Still confused as to why it worked from the front port but meh.
