OK guys, I'm making a little research up here, can you help me out and answer what is your preferred communicating software. Which one is more convenient and user friendly to you as a chat room.

Both of them have different purposes. Skype is good for real-time communication with one to ten people and IRC is more of a public idle chat that people reply to every now and then. I prefer Skype though, since all my friends use it, it's on all the time and that's not the case with IRC.

Skype is ment to be voice chat software. It's not designed to use it like MSN or the like.

Skype is more to social chatting
IRC is for internet relay chat , mostly business , community puposes
Both things differ alot!!

It does a damn good job at it though in my experience, it even has some of the commands similar to IRC channel commands to control the group chats https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA1...ands-and-roles

I perfer Skype for voice communication, IRC is great aswell.

They both serve different purposes.
