Video editing software - MP2 - 27.01.2012

Hi. I'll try and keep this short and simple.

PC specs:

Windows XP Home SP3
AMD Athlon II X2 240 (2.81 GHz)
3GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250

Less than a year old.

I'm currently using Sony Vegas Pro 8.0 to edit videos. I like the software, it's really easy to use etc. but there's just one problem. On the timeline the clips have sort of 'thumbnails' that show what is at that point. When I move the timeline across, or edit a clip, it updates said timeline, causing severe lag. Talking like 2FPS in the video preview box.

Do any of you know can I can sort that? I bought 2GB more RAM - nothing different. Do I need a better processor?

I also have a 27 inch iMac (:P) which I never really use. It has 4GB of RAM and a 3.06 GHz Intel Core Duo processor. Would I be better off editing videos on there? If I did, I'd need to transfer the .avi files, which are massive. That's why I'd like to use my PC. Also I'm not sure what software is available for mac.

Yes, the mac would be better, even though people here will troll you for having one. It wouldn't be worth upgrading your PC when you have a fully capable mac to do the same. And iMovie is great, and there is Final Cut Express for OSX.

I always use Cyber Power Director when it comes to Video Creation. I never required to change the software.

I highly recommend you to try it. It's one of the best Video Creation Software out there and it's the best Video Editing software in my perspective.

I've always thought personally that Vegas Pro has been the best video editing software for myself. Comes with a hell of a price though.

Fuck the PC, Use the mac. Macs are number one for video editing.

Yes but the issue is transferring several GBs of .avi files.

It's Cyberlink Power Director.
I personally prefer it to any other video editing software, not because it is rated no. 1 on the list (as it is) but because it is user friendly with a nice director zone (more specifically a download zone) where you can get new transitions etc for free (yes! free!!!). I use it all the time. I have also used Sony Vegas, Adobe premiere and some other video editing softwares but, tbh, none beats Cyberlink Power Director.
