Spike strips script? Alternative to OnPlayerUpdate - Outcast - 14.12.2011

What can I use as an alternative to OnPlayerUpdate for spike strips script? Like, to check the position of the player. I was thinking of a timer set to 1 seconds but it would be too server demanding I guess.

use pickups spawned below ground. its not accurate, but it does the job. the bribe star, invisible below the street, can be picked up in a vehicle
