Ontopic - Firewall will help you to prevent attacks on your pc or server, you can get default firewall enabled from Microsoft if you're using MS OS

Well , Firewall is a kind of an imaginary wall of fire, that protects your LAN/PC/Network from the external Internet. It also restricts your network to certain entities, based on your firewall configuration.
