How to change your forum name? -
PCheriyan007 - 07.07.2011
I know this may seem like a pointless thread. But I want to know, how does one go about changing their name on the forums. I see some people with different names than what they've started with and trust me they are not on a different account because even their old posts are still there.

Post a vistor message to Dugi. And be polite, or it may not be done.

Yes, it does. I forgot i changed my account name when we switched from the SMF forums, and learned that the hard way (or rather, the annoying way xD).

So then there is no way of just changing the name that everybody sees on the forum without changing my login username as well.

With vBulletin, you have one name, being your username. You cannot set a "displayed name" like you can in SMF. If you change your "username," it shows that username to everyone and you must login with that new username.

Ah, I'm more used to working with SMF so this is a tad new to me.

I was too. However, after this forum going down three times several years ago, and then moving to vBulletin, I have become more accustomed to vBulletin. I still prefer either SMF of IP. Board over vBulletin though.
