Trailing flames - fubar - 24.06.2011

Ok im hoping someone can help me,i was looking at the idea of flames following a vehicle(like ghostrider ),i have made something on the lines of this idea,but it just looks rubbish.

anyways i seem to be finding it hard to find any info on this,can anyone please send me on the right track .
