You download the server package, change the RCON, port-forward, and launch samp-server.exe

Re: How to setup your own server - dr.pepper - 20.06.2011

Try using utorrent, it port forwards for you in the settings, but it is for nooby people, I don't want people telling me it's a bad idea (Torrent Downloader and Port Forwarder): http://www.utorrent.com/

Tutorial on how to portforward: https://sampforum.blast.hk/showthread.php?tid=240151 (comes with ******* vid)

Re: How to setup your own server - Egyptian Trooper - 21.06.2011

Check out ******* videos, their you can find alot of help. "how to portforward sa-mp server"

Re: How to setup your own server - Scenario - 21.06.2011

Ignore what "Dr.Pepper" and "Egyptial Trooper" said, click here, the port you forward needs to match your SA-MP servers port, which you can change in the server.cfg file.

I would ignore what he said about ignoring Dr. Pepper. The page he linked to can be confusing with its humungous list of routers (plus you may now know which one you have). Use the ******* video Dr. Pepper suggested. If your router interface does not look exactly like in the video, don't worry. Just find something with port in the name and you should be able to open a port there.

Learning to port forward your router is a skill that should be learned!

But hosting it on your own is bad, your server is not online when you turn off your computer

You could always host it on your router.
