Tips for avoiding spam bots? -
ColdPeaceRoleplay - 27.05.2011
Hello, there's some guy who always tries to spam our forums, for an instance, On our old forums, he spammed the fuck out of us. And now he comes to our new forums and threatens us that he will do it again and soon will try to hack all of the accounts. We tried to put a security question such as "What is CP-RP?" and they have to answer the question. I'm using vbulletin, and we tried everything, but they always get past the spam avoiding questions and everything.
Thanks.

If he is threating you with hacks you can take legal action with that.
Also, you can ban his IP. (Range ban if needed)

How We can range ban ? I know only ban the start of the Ip, if its 127.0.0.1
So I know ban only the IPs starts with 127

There is usually more than one ip range, easiest way is to set up reCaptcha and other security measurements like that.

Good luck with that if you're running a nulled vBulletin. It might not be nulled in this case, but 99% of the sa-mp servers that use vB have it nulled. I can't stop laughing when I see a free domain, free hosting and then a vB forum hosted on it; You can afford a $200 forum software, but you can't afford a simple domain name? Yeah right. vBulletin is overrated, by the way.

Solution 1: Range IP ban him
Solution 2: Get anti-spam mods
Solution 3: Get verification code mods

well do be honest. I have seen your forums and I noticed it was well not legit. And as far as I know non legit vBulletin forums attract a lot spam bots. Its better you use smf or something and have ReCaptcha and some tough Q & A's. Never add 'what is 1 *7' bots are smarter than that!

Cracked forums have hidden code that the cracker gets paid to give to spammers.
No mater what you put in the spam bots can dive into your MySQL and register themselves.
Use free software if you can't afford vB or any of the paid software.

Range ban is bad idea, since spam bots can come from all countries,, Most popular spam-bots are viruses.. Maybe your computer is being used to send spam.
