Hey,
So, I bought a domain and I have no clue how to use it. Can anyone tell me what to do? Thanks. I bought it from NameCheap.com.

Ehm, no. But I was thinking I could make it forward to a forum? Will it work with free hosting?

Go to your hosting CP, and click where it says domains, and put in the info. Take the name servers from your host and put them into your panel from where you bought your domain.

Okay, I have updated the domain's DNS servers with my web hosting DNS. It says it will take 24-48 hours to activate. Is this correct? Is it possible to use sub domains? And how?

Yes, it may take a while cause the DNS servers must update. You should be able to add sub domains in your hosting control panel, or your domain control panel. You may have to browse your settings to find it.
