IRC Hosting -
donB - 24.02.2011
Guys,
Any ideas on which is the best IRC services hosting provider?
Best as in cheap, reliable, good uptime, good client support, etc.
Also, I host a website on godaddy. Is it possible that I manually upload all the required IRC server files on there and host it along!?
Please note: I mean IRC Server, not a channel. (like irc.someserver.com)
Please suggest.

Why would you want to pay for an IRC host? I could understand if it were for a personal website with chat support and such, but why not just use a channel?

Anyone else please?

If you are hosting your SA-MP server (i assume you are using a channel for that purpose), you could just install a IRC server application.

Normally a Dedicated Server / VPS is required for one.

No unless you got SSH and likely godaddy will remove your hosting if you tried.

IRC servers, especially the size of of which yours will get (likely not more than 10 people), are quite low on system resources. You could easily run one on a 128mb VPS (permitting the host allows IRC services, which, most do not). Install/configure Anope + Unreal + BOPM and you're set.
