Custom object help - Hobod - 20.02.2011

hi ive just started having a go at custom objects for samp. but i'm totally unsure of what i do to get it to work.
i basically took a billboard and its txd out of the gta3.img, renamed them both to testboard.dff/.txd and put them in the samp.img.
then i put the line for it in and gave it object id 19308. once i'd done that i got an opcode on joining my localhost and the object didnt show. i then tried putting those back to normal then putting it in the cutom .ide and .imgs and now all i get is some question mark object?
so uh can anybody help me with this one please
