Help Needed - Metallexa - 06.01.2011

Hello, i am sorry if this has been posted before, but my patience is running thin with this problem.

Ok, i have been a player of SA:MP for quite a while now, without experiencing any problems. I recently had my GTA San Andreas game uninstalled on my PC with SA:MP along with it. Now this wasn't much of a problem for me as i simply reinstalled GTA SA and downloaded the latest 0.3c client from the Download page along with the third party patch. When I installed 0.3c again i got a Malware detection virus message (i have been told this happens) and the following error message:

Error Opening File For Writing: samp.exe
Abort Retry Ignore

Every time i click retry nothing happens, so i decided to try Ignore. When i did this it installed everything SA:MP needs apart from the samp.exe file, which opens the browser.
I tried downloading from different mirrors (uninstalling SA:MP avery time) but the message remained. I have the feeling that my anti virus is somehow blocking samp.exe from being setup due to the Malware threat (i pressed Allow everytime it popped up as i had been informed it could happen).

All i want is to be able to play on SA:MP and would gladly appreciate any suggestions anyone has.

Thank you.

(i have just realised this should be posted in the Client Support section, if an Admin could kindly move this topic, i'd be very grateful)

If you already had a virus, there is some that block you from entering .exe files to make you think you really have a virus and they try for you to buy their own software.

You could try going to the control panel in your computer or your anti-virus protection and choose for it to allow, disallow certain things. Maybe oy could tyr that.

Open up Task Manager and confirm that there isn't an, "sa-mp.exe," process running. If it is somehow, then the installer won't be able to overwrite the file while it's running. End the process and retry the installation.

Also make sure your GTA:SA installation is the correct version. Download the downgrade patch and use it to either confirm that it's downgraded or to actually downgrade it. Once you've successfully done that, then apply a third-party patch, (NO-CD, etc.).

Make sure your antivirus is disabled and turned off completely before trying to install SA-MP again. If that allows you to install it without error, then allow exceptions for, "sa-mp.exe," before launching it after installation, just to be safe.

And yeah, this should be in Client Support probably.
