0.3c not compatible with some Windows 7 machines. -
Potassium - 29.12.2010
Hi guys,
I searched a bit but couldn't find a post on this yet, I do apologise if there is already one.
Normally I wouldn't start posting about bugs and stuff so soon after a release, since obviously it isn't going to be perfect straight away, but a number of players on the server that I am admin on seem to be having an issue and I feel bad that I don't know how to help them.
The issue is that some people who use Windows 7 can not connect to SAMP 0.3c.
I have only spoken in-depth about it with one player, and this is what he said:
[09:08:41] <MGL> ok
[09:09:27] <MGL> I run the samp
[09:10:50] <MGL> I choose the server, connect, so good, loads, and ... crash!
[[09:11:56] <Potassium> does it let you log in to the server or does it crash before you can log in?
[09:12:48] <MGL> before
[09:13:06] <Potassium> ok, can you paste the entire error message that you get please?
[09:14:06] <MGL> SA-MP 0.3c Exception At Address: 0x0040FB80 Registers: EAX: 0x0CA34120 EBX: 0x0CB7F5E0 ECX: 0x00000000 EDX: 0x00000000 ESI: 0x0401765C EDI: 0x0CB7F5E0 EBP: 0x00000118 ESP: 0x0028FC90 EFLAGS: 0x00010202 Stack: +0000: 0x004C6DC5 0x00000030 0x0CB7F5E0 0x0CB7F5E0 +0010: 0x0401765C 0x00000118 0x00001500 0x0028FCF0 +0020: 0x0028FCF0 0x0CA34120 0x0
[09:16:24] <Potassium> ok thanks. have you tried to log in to other servers, or only <name removed>?
[09:17:01] <MGL> yeah
[09:17:11] <Potassium> so it crashes on all servers?
[09:17:17] <MGL> yes
He has tried re-installing GTA.
Sorry that I can't give more information, but I can only give you what I've got. If you need more, tell me what you need and I'll attempt to get it.
I'm just hoping that maybe someone will have experienced the same thing and found a solution!
Thanks,
Potassium

They've tried reinstalling GTA, sorry, I should have mentioned that. Edited my post, thanks.
How can it be the wrong mod, it's the same one that everyone else has downloaded >.<

Rename GTA directory, then try again

Rename it to what? Sorry but do you think you could be a little more helpful?

I use Windows 7 32 bit and I have a laptop with 64 bit and works completely fine.
I suggest making sure user control settings are off.

Thanks for the reply, any chance you could expand a little?
I don't know very much about this stuff, so it's going to be extra hard for me to explain it to players who do not speak English as their first language, when I don't understand it myself.

Say his GTA SA Install directory is:
C:/Program Files/Rockstar Games/GTA San Andreas
Just tell him to change it to:
C:/Program Files/Rockstar Games/GTA San Andreas 2
Technically he can change it to anything, just make it different

I recommend you to reinstall GTA SA from the
ORIGINAL CD
Ow and try to reinstall sa-mp after that
