I've totally forgotten if you can equip homies with any weapons besides those crappy 9MM's without using cheats.
Insight, anybody?
Man I love taking homie roadtrips...
But yeah... If you can equip them with other weapons, how do you do so? I've forgotten.

No, you can't.
However they get better weapons as you progress through the game (Desert Eagles and MP5)

Try using some cheats. Then you can recruit them with AK47 or Bazooka

As an alternative, if you do want to use an outside source for doing this, look for "All in One Mod". It allows you to give or take any weapon to the Homies. That, along with hundreds of other neat things.

I'm using nothing but my MP5 and my M4, all the while my homies are using 9's.

I can take all of those gangs by myself I don't need those useless homies.
Just find a good place to hide, I always go on roof of some house and wait for the gangs to come
to me and i just kill them easily.
