Yep, you have to act like you would at real life, Kinda takes time to learn, but you'll get hang off it, RP-ing can never get boring, you can act as anyone, gangbanger, civilian, mobster, hobo, tramp or anything :P

I completly agree here. We have so many idiots here around which don't know how to act in their life, so it's pretty hard to learn how to act in virtual life.
