The server only needs a .amx to work.

AMX Mod is for the Half-Life scripting engine, so none.

No, SA-MP does not use it. You clearly haven't researched properly. SA-MP uses PAWN, and PAWN is used by AMX Mod, but SA-MP does not use AMX Mod.
