Building a HTPC - Suggestions -

Hey all. Getting suggestions on how I'd get to build a Blu-Ray HDMI HTPC with Live TV applications.
Will be running Win7 64-bit(not sure what type).
And also need a suggestion on a decent Media software. Thanks

Just get a small formfactor case, and put a Micro-ATX or ITX motherboard in it, and buy a TV-Card for it.
Also make sure the videocard has HDMI output so you can hook it onto your TV.
Windows 7, don't know about the other version but at least Ultimate has it, has a build-in Media Center software programme, it's very usefull and you actually don't need more then that.

What I was thinking was:
Case: Thermaltake DH101
OS:
Win7 64-bit (Ultimate) Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
RAM: 4GB DDR3
MB: Gigabyte GA-H55-UD3H ATX
CPU: Intel Core i5-650
GPU: ATI Radeon HD5750 1GB (HDMI OUTPUT)
TV: Hauppauge HVR2200 MCE PCIe Dual Hybrid
HDD: 3TB(+)
DRIVE: Samsung SH-B083L Blu-ray DVD Combo with Lightscribe
SC: (optional for if I need to connect to a non-HDMI TV)

Yes very nice, but that must cost like $1000 i think?!
Also you can use it as a home server, to store some movies etc.

Well yeh, I plan to spend big on this so that I can not worry about upgrading it for awhile.
Other than that, do you think this is a very good setup for a HTPC?

I am not sure why you would pay extra for Windows 7 Ultimate over a cheaper version, I don't think there is really any difference between them.

The only difference that I would actually care about is the different languages. Besides that, I agree with you.
