Windows 7 59Hz lock - Printable Version

Windows 7 59Hz lock - BP13 - 11.02.2010

In windows 7 the refresh rate is locked at 59/60 which really sucks. Is there any way to force it without any additional software (Ex. Registry) etc.

Get a better montior, I'm running at 75 hz right now at 1600x1200

59.94Hz - 60 Hz 0.06Hz is not a big difference.....
Anyway try by checking your gpu driver settings

Steps to reproduce the problem

Right-click the windows desktop, and then click Personalize.
Click Display.
Click Change display settings.
Click Advanced settings.
Click the Monitor tab and change Screen refresh rate from 59 Hertz to 60 Hertz.
Click Ok.
Return to Advanced settings.
The Monitor tab still shows 59 Hertz.

Well than you are too lazy to input the meaning. Its basically saying that you can't/ But I had my old laptop running on 200Hz and it was 7 years older than my current laptop.

Can't you see that i've put a line(afgasf) on that thing about the driver?The setting shows it like ~60hz so there's no need to fix it.
There isn't a total freq. Same is like my processor it says that its 3ghz but its actually 2997mhz([333mhzx9multipl.]~3000mhz=3ghz)

I want at least 72Hz on windows 7. This refresh rate is the same for all windows 7 users even if your screen and GPU can support it.

It's only locked like that if you have your power settings set to balanced or power saver. Put it on performance or get a better monitor. Your monitor restricts it, not Windows.

Also, you're going to let .04 Hz bother you? lol.

I said I want 72 Hz at the least. And 59Hz and 60Hz are the same thing. They are both rounded to the same thing. Also the HP people said it was windows 7 and same as that link I posted. Also I do not have a performance mode power option for some reason.

HP techsupport go by whats in front of them, I run windows 7 with no refresh rate lock, It only locks the refresh rate to resloustions that your monitor can handle, For example if you set your montior to 800x600 You can set your refresh rate to your max montior refresh rate for that montior. The refresh rate is locked by your montior not your os
