samp server exploit? - hipy - 08.12.2009

Hi

i already have now 2 times that this happend.

What happens?

A player joins and a few seconds later the server crashes.

Not a single trace in logs to be found. The player joins. Then boom gone.

Im sure that it is this sure since this is not the first time that this happend.

Last time the time between he joined and our server crashing matched
He did not send any commands to the server / chat. log files end after <user> has joined

Quote:

<iLoveSumo> [8] kevin_22 has joined the server
iLoveSumo has quit (Connection reset by peer)

he joined 15seconds before server crashed

Anybody have any clue what this could be?

i am up to date. The player comes from brazil.

You should post the serverlog.txt to show what that has... All I can see is that the bot dies after it.

So, Normal players join, But when these ones do they crash the server?

Need a bit more info, Mainly logs and info on how often/constantly/reliably it crashes.

Reliably crashing the server, means, does it crash everytime they connect?

In logs you see only hи joined Then nothing

I'm talking about 1 person when he joins excactly 15 secs later server crashes

Re: samp server exploit? - RoBo - 08.12.2009

I think it's a bug with Incognito's IRC plugin.. not 100% sure tho.

Re: samp server exploit? - Jakku - 08.12.2009

The problem is probably in the script.

Re: samp server exploit? - Malice - 08.12.2009

Just a huge speculation. As I see a few squares, maybe this player has invalid characters in his name for a filename and he is trying to register? This would only happen, of course, if your server didn't have any protection against this. However, I'm not sure if it would be possible for the server to crash before logging the command.

Re: samp server exploit? - Christopher. - 08.12.2009

I'm not entirely sure if this was fixed in 0.3, But there was a exploit out there that modified the packets sent back to the server, This is a similar way the 'n3ptun0' bot worked, Joined, Packet modified, Crashed.

But i think the SA-MP protocol was fixed with this security issue, Correct me if i am wrong.

well put it in debug mode, and maybe have a command log, and text log etc.
