Well, if you want to stick to INI, go for YINI or maybe DOF2.
OR, Certainly there is a new ini library known as NINI. I would recommend that if your script dont work upon multiple file opening too much. I mentioned NINI cause it will automatically convert dini to nini which of course is much faster. All you have to do is replace dini include to n_ini (in the script).
Though i used that same method for my register and login script.
