It's a great achievement, and I thoroughly agree with progression. But I think they need to first sort out their economical problems, and their incredibly distant social classes that's putting so many people into poverty.

How can you foolishly compare ISRO mars project to India poverty. It's simply creating humor and a sense of jealousy. It's a very appreciable that India have developed. Often people hate to praise one's progress.
India is the 4th country, not unlike the others still hopping to reach mars a day. If we talk about expenses, India spent $74 millions which is even less than the budget of Hollywood movie "Gravity", moreover, United states also launched the project, However, America did it for $671 millions. So, we can spent the left over amount on improving poverty.
If you are really concerned about poverty, just get time to checkout the poverty graph of India. You don't even have curosity to get information rather keep on speaking false about it.
India succeeded in one go, however America and Russia have failed once.

What are you implying by India succeeded in one go, whilst America and Russia failed? You mean by launching into space?

The reason why India is still a very poor country is because the head of departments here have their minds dipped in a radioactive curry, which makes them think less and do more, and then regret. Although this is a great achievement for India, it'd have been better if the money had been put to a good use, just like the guys in the previous posts said.

The freaking lame asses britishers stole india's gold a lot even they still doing as far as i am concerned. A friend of mine was busy a month or so ago to
raise money so children in India would have a school to go to. Meanwhile, your government is spending money on a project which isn't even that significant. It is something that has been done before, just to prove it could be done again. So yes, this slightly ticks me off. If it was my (the Dutch) government acting like this, I would have reacted the same...
